The Face Behind the Videos You’ve Been Watching

She’s edited every video you’ve watched lately — now it’s time to hear her side of the journey.

Hey, Johannes from GearUpYourLife here.

Today it’s time for our community edition — every second Sunday I share a story from one of you. Sometimes it’s a packing fail, sometimes a full packing list, sometimes just a fun travel moment.

But today’s story is a little different. After three community members already shared their experiences (two weeks ago it was Renée), this time we’re hearing from someone who, I’d bet, has actually spent more time with GearUpYourLife videos than any of you. (At least I hope so 😅)

Christine is the very first official team member here at GearUpYourLife. For almost two months now, she’s been the one behind the edits — making sure the videos you all watch every week are smooth, fun, and engaging.

And today, she’s sharing a bit about who she is, how she joined our community, and her own small but meaningful experiences with travel.

Hi everyone, I’m Christine, but you can call me Tin.

I grew up in Manila, the capital of the Philippines — a place where every street feels like it has its own rhythm, from jeepneys squeezing through traffic to food stalls that smell like home. Funny enough, I haven’t actually traveled much outside of the Philippines yet. But maybe that’s what makes this journey with GearUpYourLife so exciting for me: every video I edit feels like a window into the world.

When Johannes reached out a couple of months ago, I honestly didn’t expect to become the first official team member here. But now, after dozens of hours cutting raw footage, fixing pacing, and making transitions smoother (well… most of the time 😉), I realize how much I enjoy being part of something that helps people travel smarter.

See, editing isn’t just about trimming clips. For me, it’s about making sure you — the viewer — actually feel why a gadget matters. Why a tiny packing cube can make you breathe easier in a messy hotel room. Or why that one power bank can save your day when your phone dies in the middle of exploring a new city.

And speaking of power banks… even though my own travels have been small so far, I already learned one golden rule: never leave home without one. Imagine standing in the streets of Manila, trying to message your friends, and boom — your phone dies. No directions, no photos, no chance to capture that one sunset over the bay. That one little gadget change everything.

That’s why being part of GearUpYourLife means a lot to me. Every video I edit isn’t just about tech or products — it’s about showing people that these little things can make travel less stressful and way more enjoyable. And for me personally, it’s also a chance to travel the world in a different way — through the stories, the gear, and maybe someday, through my own adventures too.

When I first messaged Christine a couple of months ago, I had this gut feeling right away: this could actually be something long-term. And I wasn’t wrong. From day one, she’s handled the editing like a pro, making every video smoother, sharper, and more fun to watch.

I’m genuinely grateful for how much effort she puts in — and honestly, she’s one of the kindest, most reliable people I could’ve hoped to team up with (even if her sleeping schedule is highly questionable… but hey, it makes the time difference between Cologne and Manila feel a lot smaller 😅).

And speaking of her work: the brand-new video she just finished editing is live right now — “12 Tiny Travel Gadgets” — and I’d love for you to check it out and drop your honest thoughts in the comments. It would mean a lot to both of us.

Thank you, Christine, for being such an important part of this project — and for being a true part of this community.

In the attachment you’ll also find a picture of Christine — originally meant for the website, but I figured… why wait? So you’re getting it two weeks early.

Safe travels,
Johannes ✈️
