The “Vacation Hack” That Costs Less Than 1$

A tiny habit that made my last 20-hour travel day calmer, easier, and way more enjoyable and why it might help you too.

Hey, Johannes from GearUpYourLife here…

and today, we’re jumping into a small travel “hack” that costs less than 1 dollar.
So yeah… a little break from the usual gadgets and back to something many of you have heard me talk about before:

Reading while traveling.

If you’ve been here for a while, you know I’ve been reading books for years and its one of my favorite habits in life. But just like working out, reading is one of those things that slowly slips into the background when you travel full-time or when everyday life gets chaotic.

A few weeks ago I even made a community post about this exact problem, and it was crazy to see how many of you said you struggle with the same thing.
That low-key made me feel a lot better haha.

So, I finally listened to your recommendations and tried something new:
audiobooks. Especially on my 20-hour trip from Croatia all the way down to Greece, audiobooks basically saved me. And today I wanted to give you a little bit of feedback on this whole experience — what worked for me, why it surprised me, and how it might help you too on your next trip.

After I asked you guys for recommendations, the answer I got the most was Audible especially because they’re running this crazy offer right now where the first three months only cost $0.99.
And honestly… I was suspicious at first.
I always expect some catch like “month one is cheap, the rest comes later” — but no.
I signed up, checked my account twice, and it was really just $0.99 total and everything unlocked right away.

So I tested it on the way from Croatia to Greece and that’s where I realized how perfect audiobooks actually are for traveling.

You don’t need WiFi.
You don’t need extra space in your bag.
You don’t even need energy to read, you just sit there, look out of the window, relax, and suddenly time moves faster in the best way possible.

What surprised me the most is how calm it made long travel days feel.
Normally a 20-hour journey feels like a marathon, but with a good audiobook it becomes this slow, peaceful rhythm.
You’re learning something, or getting lost in a story, while still being present in the moment. No screens and absolutely no scrolling, something I think all of us could use a little less of over time.

So here’s my honest takeaway:
I finally listened to Atomic Habits by James Clear a book I’ve wanted to read for months, and I finished it in just four days.
For me, audiobooks are something anyone can benefit from, especially right now with the 0.99 $ deal for the first three months.
If you’re even a little curious, I think it’s worth testing.

But I’ll also be completely honest with you:
I’m still not sure if the regular 15 $ per month after the trial is something I’ll fully commit to.
There are many reasons why it does make sense, it’s cheaper than buying physical books, you always have your titles with you, and it makes travel days feel easier.
But at the end of the day, another subscription is always a bit more money.

So my recommendation is this:
Try it while it’s 0.99 $, see if it actually fits your routine during the three months, and then decide for yourself if it’s worth keeping.

If you want to check out the offer, you’ll find the link below.

Disclaimer:
I’m not sponsored in any way. I would earn exactly 0.02 $ if someone signs up, just being fully transparent so you know this post isn’t paid, and that I only recommend things I genuinely use or find helpful.

See you next week and finally on time again 😂
Safe travels,
Johannes
