This Was Much Harder Than I Expected.

But it started something completely new for the channel.

Hey, Johannes from GearUpYourLife here…. 👋

And Today is a big moment for this channel.

Because after months of planning, testing gear, rewriting scripts, and honestly overthinking way too many details
the first fully self-filmed GearUpYourLife video is finally here.
and it marks the beginning of a much more real, personal kind of travel content from now on.

And I won’t lie… the process was harder than I expected.
What looked simple from the outside suddenly became lighting setups, camera settings, retakes, audio problems, and moments where I genuinely thought:
why does this take so much longer than it should?

But at the same time, something changed.

For the first time, this doesn’t just feel like another upload.
It feels like the beginning of a new chapter for the channel,
more real moments, more personal travel stories, and content that goes far beyond just showing products on a table.

And today, I want to show you a closer look at the video itself
the gear inside it, what makes it special,
and why this upload matters more than any other one before.

5 Tiny Travel Essentials from the New Video
(with Real Use Score)

($80) Tortuga Foldable Daypack — ⭐️ 9.1/10
A full 19L daypack that folds down small enough for carry-on travel but feels structured, comfortable, and genuinely premium when worn.
Not the cheapest or smallest option compared to Osprey, but far more “real backpack” in daily use, which is exactly why I wanted to feature it here.

($20) Wuben G5 Flashlight — ⭐️ 8.9/10
Tiny, bright, magnetic, and surprisingly versatile for something this small.
Perfect for evening walks, night travel moments, or simply having reliable light without carrying bulky gear.
One of the strongest value-for-size flashlights you can get right now.

($45) AirFly Pro — ⭐️ 9.0/10
The upgraded version of one of the few true flight essentials,i have talked so much here.
Lets you connect two AirPods at once, lasts over 25 hours, and works in planes, rental cars, or anywhere with an audio jack.
More expensive than the standard version, but absolutely worth it if you travel with someone.

($9) Wicked Chili Flight Phone Mount — ⭐️ 8.2/10
One of those rare airport gadgets that’s actually useful.
Clips to tray tables for hands-free watching in landscape mode and even works at home when you just want to watch something while eating.
Simple, cheap, and far more practical than expected.

($25) Braun Travel Alarm Clock — ⭐️ 7.8/10
It’s Minimal, compact, and built to do one thing perfectly:
wake you up without pulling you straight into your phone and notifications.
A small lifestyle upgrade that quietly improves travel mornings more than most tech ever could. ( not in the Video )

And now it’s your turn.

Because this is the first video of this new kind and the beginning of a completely new chapter for the channel
I really need your honest feedback.

So please watch the video and leave a comment with your thoughts:
what felt great, what could be improved, what you maybe expected differently
every single opinion helps shape what GearUpYourLife becomes from here.

Since I’m now filming everything myself, you can also expect very different — and honestly much better — content in the next weeks.
Things like:

  • my 8 Buy-It-For-Life travel products

  • traveling over a week with only a sling bag

  • and my complete favorite toiletry setup

So I truly think there will be something valuable here for everyone.

Safe travels, guys.
Johannes
